GIIS Chess champions-in-the-making meet Chess Grandmaster

GIIS students with Viswanathan Anand, Indian chess Grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion. Anand has won the World Chess Championship five times!

GIIS India, has tied up with the NIIT Mind Champions Academy, a joint venture between NIIT and World Chess Champion, Viswanathan (Vishy) Anand, which promotes the game of chess in schools. The training, conducted by the academy at school, will bring the joy of chess to the children and at the same time make a positive impact on students behaviour as well as academics.

Chess has been widely regarded as a mind stimulant for children as it helps them enhance their creativity while enjoying it as a game. An eager bunch of chess-aspirants from GIIS Noida got an opportunity to meet the Chess Grandmaster in person, at the India Habitat Centre on July 20, 2012. Vishy Anand demonstrated some interesting moves with the children and shared his own experience as a chess player. The children were delighted with the funny instances narrated by him and were enthusiastic to learn more. The students had an interactive question & answer session with the Grandmaster. The session was indeed rewarding for the children.
