Forming the cornerstone of the Global Schools Foundation is the belief, Its heart should be Indian and mind global . The belief also forms the core of GIIS vision and mission, influencing the educational and cultural efforts of the schools. The unique GIIS Universal Thoughts & Values Programme has been developed under the aegis of MGCVT, to help students build strong universal values that are the guiding principles of life. Gandhian thoughts and values are made approachable to students with exciting lesson plans with various hands-on activities and a comprehensive selection of extracts. MGCVT was conceived to give GIIS students valuable insights into the experience and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.

The new campus of GIIS Indore is finally ready with a centre dedicated to the memories of Mahatma Gandhi. It will be used for meditation and a place where students will learn good values not only from the life of Mahatma Gandhi but also from world leaders.

The inauguration on July 2 began with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi s statue and lighting of the lamp of knowledge, followed by a prayer. The little children of GIIS Indore presented a beautiful medley based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi showcasing the journey of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who became the Father of the Nation .

The cultural programme ended with Gandhiji s favourite bhajan, Vaishnav Jana To...

Justice Dharmadhikari had the privilege to have received blessings and guidance from Mahatma Gandhi and he shared his own experiences with the audience. Addressing the parents and teachers, he explained that if parents expect disciplined behaviour from their children, they should realize that they are the ones in need of being self-disciplined first. He suggested that the parents should work in partnership with the school to ensure the children imbibe the right values. Mr Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, India then briefed the parents and journalists on the role as well as importance of MGCVT in GIIS campuses worldwide.

Dr Faiqa Saulat Khan, Principal of GIIS Indore, proposed a vote of thanks and assured the Chief Guest that the school would implement all his suggestions for MGCVT to become a centre for nurturing the students with Gandhian values of truth, non-violence and brotherhood.

The inauguration ceremony had a humbling effect on everyone who was a part of the programme. The parents appreciated the role of GIIS as an institution in shaping the character of their children. The programme ended with National Anthem.
