GIIS IB Class of 2012 produces a record number of above- 40 in the IB
Conquering lofty summits, GIIS IB students of 2012 have set a new school record by achieving the greatest number of above-40 points in the May 2012 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Examination. With Rhea Mann scoring 43, Mallika Bhattacharya, Priyadarshani Bhatt and Yashaswi Agrawal scoring 42 and Srishti Saxena scoring 41, this GIIS IB cohort has blazed their academic trail with success. In 8 of the 10 subjects offered the average grade achieved is a 5.5 or above.

This cohort also boasts the highest number of As in both Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). With another record breaking achievement of a class average of 36 points the batch of 2012 has done themselves and the school proud and has taken the IBDP in GIIS to a new level. The new excellence accomplished by the students has reconfirmed the top-notch status of the IBDP delivery at GIIS Queenstown Campus.

According to the Economics teacher Ms Shefalika Kumar, 7 of my students of a total of 16 have achieved a 7 with our combined and continuous efforts. The intellectually vibrant class discussions and correlating Economics to real life have equipped them to better handle the challenges of the IB paper. As a teacher, this year s results have been very gratifying."

Ms Sutha Ramakrishnan, IB Biology teacher, added, "That 30% of my students achieved the challenging task of scoring a 7 in an intensive subject like Biology is indeed an achievement for both myself and my students and is a testimony to our collaborative efforts. This was possible due to the student centric approach that we take at GIIS. Students have achieved results beyond all expectations proving the success of pedagogy at GIIS".

IBDP Co-ordinator, Ms Geetanjali Kannan: “It is to the credit of a very committed and hard working IB team that the IB batch of 2012 has set new benchmarks for future batches. These results are a testimony to the success of GIIS teachers in inculcating the IB learner profile in our students and indeed to the popularity of the  IBDP at GIIS.”
